Limited job options for pure Chemistry degree holders |
---|
So you want to pursue a pure Chemistry degree in university? A Chemistry tutor who goes by the online moniker simple_minded explains the pros and cons, citing limited employment opportunities in the working world as a consideration not to be taken lightly: |
"If you want to work in a research lab, then you need a PhD in Chemistry or related discipline.. Or you could work in some chemicals lab as a chemist, doing quality control or synthesising some chemicals. My friend is working in Ministry of Environment and he graduated with a Chemistry degree. Those with Chemical Engineering degree usually earn much more than chemists, but their jobs are usually more stressful. Chemical Engineering studies much less chemistry than Chemistry majors. Those in Chemistry labs may come into contact with toxic gases and chemicals. I graduated with a Chemistry degree, and I will be honest with you: it is not the best degree that gives you a lot of openings. My boss last time asked me not to do a Chemistry degree when I graduated from JC." |
