Applying for Med School: BMAT matters very much

A parent who is known as mum141 in online forums recalls some excellent advice she received from application specialists at Blackstone Tutors in the UK when her child gave Med School a shot a long while ago:

"Prior to my eldest applying to study Medicine a couple of years ago, we did much research into what the specific requirements were.

We spoke to many medicine application specialists throughout the world, and Blackstone Tutors provided some advice which I remember to this day..

The gentleman said, however well one does in their academia up until their university application represents 50%, the other 50% is the BMAT, SJT and other admissions tests (which are relatively neglected by schools). I had completely underestimated the importance of these tests!

I subsequently sent my eldest to London for the Blackstone Tutors BMAT course and she now studies at Imperial College. That's not to say that these courses are revolutionary, however they are very useful in filling a large void left by our schools, and I would strongly recommend that you attend any of these courses (whether it be Blackstone, Kaplan or any other variation).
